Basic Training

A blogger I read regularly had some post-mortem on the VA Rally, and mentioned ‘What now?’ regarding what to do. He then noted a set of posts he did back in 2018 where he listed a serious set of basic training lessons that individuals could use to get themselves prepared for well, anything. I’ve seen a meme kicked about recently that looks at the predisposition of ‘preppers’ to just get stuff and not worry so much about skills. I don’t always agree with Aesop, but you could certainly do much worse than just reviewing the posts on the list below and at least taking stock of where your current physical and mental skill / capacity levels sit.

Nota bene: I tried to post this list in pieces as comments on his blog, but the mass of links ran afoul of whatever comment spam filter he’s got set up, so I decided to post them here and put a single link in the comment there. I normally lay a little lower as it regards politically charged interactions on teh intarwebz, but this is good info, and worth passing on to a wider audience.
