To trudge…

Okay, so the remainder of this post will have nothing to do with the title, but I had to title it as such… because it relates to something we saw on the way up Mt Lemmon today.  We rode the V-star up to Windy Point to watch the sunset, but on our way up noticed a guy about a mile and a half down from the overlook walking down the side of the road carrying a helmet.  When we got to the parking area, we noted a Pima County Sheriff’s truck parked across from… a Honda RC51 with no rider around.  I’d imagine the aftermarket Sato exhausts gave him away, and he must have been doing something approaching ludicrous speed to get his ride impounded.   I’ve taken to riding the mountain much more sedately in recent runs, mostly due to the deputy who lives on the mountain who has a bit of a reputation.

Anywho, we rode to the mountain this afternoon to go check out the sunset.

Of course her new phone gets signal on the mountain now…

(Can’t ever get away anymore…)

The sunset itself was very, very pretty.  Arizona is a very beautiful place.  There’s something about the combination of dry, desert air, altitude, and visibility of ridiculous distances that makes for a gorgeous evening.  Plus, after the sun goes down, I think there are actually more stars here.  (I know, I know, it’s just that you can see more of them due to less light pollution and less distance to space at altitude, but it has to be seen to be believed).

We took the opportunity on the way back down to stop at Babad Doag overlook and check out the cacti:

Of course we didn’t bother taking our helmets off for this photo-op…

…and then we rode home.  No trudging involved.
